Nous sommes en 2001, Ted Turner vend la WCW et Vince McMahon est réputé en avoir fait l’achat. Lors du dernier Nitro sur TNT, la musique de Vince McMahon se fait entendre mais ce n’est pas le Chairman de la WWE qui arrive, mais bien Eric Bischoff. C’est avec la compagnie FUSIENT qu’il a formé un groupe d’achat pour racheter la compagnie devant McMahon qui venait d’acheter la ECW quelques mois auparavant.
 
On se retrouve donc en avril 2001, il n’y a plus de contrat TV pour la WCW. C’est devant de lourds contrats, un manque de staff et un roster inégale que Bischoff remet la compagnie dans les mains de K!ck.

Rey Misterio Jr. has been destroyed! Wait! Eddie Guerrero isn't leaving! He climbs to the top rope again...and hits another Frog Splash! My God! Rey Misterio Jr. is completely out cold. Eddie makes the slit-throat gesture, then climbs to the top rope again. Referees start pouring out of the dressing room to try and stop this, but they're too late - Frog Splash hits for the third time! Eddie Guerrero gets led away from the ring as medics come to attend to Rey Jr., who isn't moving.
